Citizens have been instrumental in the protection of the Oak Ridges Moraine, and the need will continue.
The Oak Ridges Moraine Land Trust is only one of many groups, formal or informal who are actively working to preserve moraine landscapes, functions, species and sustainability. Protection is achieved through support for individual stewardship actions, group efforts at advocacy or through mandated roles of larger organizations. Protection is a huge and multi-pronged task. Passionate individuals and organizations, large and small, work together cooperatively to protect and restore the moraine.
Here and elsewhere in this website you will see that there is no one central point of responsibility for moraine protection. Each group, each municipality, each organization, each community has a role to play. Listed here you will find some of those other key players working to protect the public benefits that the Oak Ridges Moraine quietly supplies to us all.
